Opening Early 2025

Summit Play Village is a vibrant space where kids 8 and under can bring their imaginations to life through play and exploration. As parents in Lee’s Summit, we often felt cooped up indoors with limited options for family-friendly activities. Recognizing the need for more attractions in our neighborhood, we decided to create a place where children could thrive and families could connect. Summit Play Village is our solution—a fun, engaging destination designed with our community in mind.

Meet the owners

Joanna Anderson:

Originally from California, Joanna has called Lee’s Summit home for the past decade. As a parent of a 4-year-old, Camilla and a 2-year-old, Asher, she was always searching for new experiences and activities for her children. With a background in running businesses in the corporate world, Joanna knew she couldn’t build and run this venture alone. Emmie, who has been part of her family for 4 years—first as a caregiver who supported her children like a third parent and now as a parent herself—was the perfect partner to bring this vision to life. This partnership creates a unique and dynamic team capable of making Summit Play Village a success.

Emmie Scharig:

Emmie, a Lee's Summit Native, is a first time mom to a 6 month old, Banks. She discovered the importance of having safe, engaging environments for her little one to explore and grow. Summit Play Village excites me because it combines my passion for early childhood education and family life. She wanted to create a space where her baby can play throughout his childhood. She can't wait to share this experience with other parents and their children to connect and have fun.
